Firefox 4 on Ubuntu

Mozilla Firefox just recently released the latest 4.0 stable for all platforms. Firefox 4 no doubt is a major improvement along with a new GUI. However currently the default software repositories aren’t serving the new version (yet).

Steps to install Firefox

  1. Add the stable repository for Firefox from Mozilla:
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
  2. Update the list for all the packages:
    sudo apt-get update
  3. Upgrade all the packages including Firefox:
    sudo apt-get upgrade

Enjoy Firefox 4.0 on Ubuntu 🙂
